Solar panels are used for the purpose of converting solar energy into electricity. The word solar panel is commonly used colloquially to refer to a solar photovoltaic module used in place of an electrical panel. The number one factor that determines panel efficiency is the tilt or angle of the panels. It is known that solar panels whose tilt is very large will only be able to absorb a small portion of the available solar energy. As a result, their output power will be very low. On the other hand, panels whose tilt is very small will only absorb a very small part of the available solar energy. As a result, their output power will be very high and their electricity generated can be used for powering all the devices and appliances in your house.

It has to be mentioned here that you cannot convert electricity produced by residential solar energy system into electricity for your household needs directly. This is because you will need solar panels with a large enough surface area. Moreover, these panels will not be efficient if they are not facing the sunlight directly. A way out would be to use batteries to store the excess electricity produced by your system so that you can convert it directly into usable energy for your household needs.

Today, it is possible to buy commercial PV panels having higher efficiency rates. These commercial photovoltaic panels can be used to power large industrial complexes. However, it is advised that you do not use them to power your domestic household appliances in your residential premises. If you really want to convert your domestic electricity into solar energy, then you should invest in small-sized residential solar panels.
